Get Messy!
It’s amazing the fun you can have with a lttle cornstarch, food coloring, and white glue if you know how to mix them together! I wanted to share a bunch of fun messy ”recipes” for kids using everyday household ingredients. Most likely you have these ingredients in your kitchen already!
Cornstarch Goo
I made this the other day for my toddler. I would highly recommend making, and playing, with this outdoors. It is messy, but cleans up easily with a hose. I have to admit I had more fun than he did getting my hands into this awesome goo!
It is so easy to make…..Mix 1 box of cornstarch wtih 1-1.5 cups of water. Have your kids use their hands to mix the cornstarch with the water. You, and your kids, will be amazed at the wierd stuff the goo does! It is solid in the bowl, but once you pick it up it becomes liquid! NOTE: DO NOT put this substance down any sinks, it will turn to solid and clog your sink!
Cornstarch Finger Paint
You will need 1/4 cup corn starch and 3/4 cup water
Combine cornstarch with a little of the water in a pot over low heat. Stir until it forms a smooth paste. Stir in the rest of the water. Stir over low heat. Don’t let mixture stick to the bottom of the pot. Simmer until clear and thick. Cool. Divide into bowls and add food coloring. Grab some paper and get fingerpainting!
Flubber
Step 1: In a large container (such as a small bucket) combine 1.5 cups warm water, 2 cups white glue, and food coloring of your choice. Mix thoroughly.
Step 2: In a seperate smaller container combine 1 1/3 cups warm water, and 3 tsp. of Borax. Mix thoroughly.
Step 3: Pour contents of smaller container (Borax and warm water) into the small bucket mixture. Gently lift and turn the mixture until only about a tablespoon of liquid is left. Flubber will stick for a moment or two. Let excess drop off then Flubber will be ready!
Flubber can be stored in an airtight container for 3 weeks.
